General information

Solid rubber (butyl rubber)
swibox – DISTRO distribution enclosures are made of butyl rubber. Thanks to its properties, butyl rubber is widely used in the electrical sector and is a self-extinguishing material. Its advantages also include excellent ageing resistance, resistance to oils, acids, petrol and industrial solvents. Large temperature differences (-40°C – 130°C) have no effect on its basic properties. Its high mechanical strength should also be emphasised. The material is exceptionally impact-resistant, pull-resistant and suitable for areas subject to high mechanical stress. This quality is very different from housings made of PVC, plastic or metal. The base is made of solid rubber and a seal is embedded in its upper edge; the cover is fitted with a relief seal so that the parts fit together perfectly, thus guaranteeing a double seal (min. IP54). The solid rubber housings have been tested for heat resistance and have passed the GLOW WIRE TEST 960°C. The modularity of the structure and the modest dimensions allow various applications in the industrial, construction and shipbuilding sectors. Thanks to the excellent fire resistance, the low toxicity and the fact that butyl rubber is self-extinguishing, the solid rubber products can be used with good results in public places outdoors and also in enclosed spaces (theatres, cinemas, concert halls, sports facilities, tunnels and road construction, etc.).
Polycarbonateviewing window, unbreakable, transparent, with AISI 304 stainless steel return spring and IP55 seal (according to ICE 529, CEI 70-1 and EN 60529), possibility of assembly with switches from 2-18 mod. DIN.
Screws AISI 304 stainless steel captive screws for fixing the cover to OT58 brass inserts inserted into the rubber when hot. V2A stainless steel screws for fixing the socket.
Certification and compliance with standards
Enclosure in accordance with IEC 23B (SEC), 88, IEC 669-1 and IEC 670/ 1st edition 1981 and especially wall-mounted enclosure recognised by IMQ (ISTITUTO ITALIANO MARCHIO DI QUALITÀ). CSI certification for the absence of halogen hydride gases. Electrical circuits according to EN 61439-1/2 standard equipment. Electrical circuits for construction sites in accordance with EN 60439-4. The above-mentioned electrical circuits have been tested in laboratories CE. TA. CE, CENTRO TARATURA CERTIFICAZIONE (CERTIFICATION CENTRE) laboratories in Florence. They are authorised by the Ministry of Industry to issue the certification of conformity
(Law 791/1977), (CEE 73/23 Directive on low voltage).
CE marking
Since 1st January 1996, our products subject to CCE Directive 89/336 (electromagnetic compatibility) bear the CE mark. Since 1 January 1997, products subject to the law of 18 October no. 791 (Low Voltage Directive CEE 73/23) bear the same marking.
Testing the socket distributors
Our socket distributors are tested in accordance with European standard EN 61439-1/2 (single unit test) and supplied with a test certificate.
