General information
Solid rubber (butyl rubber)
swibox – DISTRO distribution enclosures are made of butyl rubber. Thanks to its properties, butyl rubber is widely used in the electrical sector and is a self-extinguishing material. Its advantages also include excellent ageing resistance, resistance to oils, acids, petrol and industrial solvents. Large temperature differences (-40°C – 130°C) have no effect on its basic properties. Its high mechanical strength should also be emphasised. The material is exceptionally impact-resistant, pull-resistant and suitable for areas subject to high mechanical stress. This quality is very different from housings made of PVC, plastic or metal. The base is made of solid rubber and a seal is embedded in its upper edge; the cover is fitted with a relief seal so that the parts fit together perfectly, thus guaranteeing a double seal (min. IP54). The solid rubber housings have been tested for heat resistance and have passed the GLOW WIRE TEST 960°C. The modularity of the structure and the modest dimensions allow various applications in the industrial, construction and shipbuilding sectors. Thanks to the excellent fire resistance, the low toxicity and the fact that butyl rubber is self-extinguishing, the solid rubber products can be used with good results in public places outdoors and also in enclosed spaces (theatres, cinemas, concert halls, sports facilities, tunnels and road construction, etc.).
Polycarbonateviewing window, unbreakable, transparent, with AISI 304 stainless steel return spring and IP55 seal (according to ICE 529, CEI 70-1 and EN 60529), possibility of assembly with switches from 2-18 mod. DIN.
Screws AISI 304 stainless steel captive screws for fixing the cover to OT58 brass inserts inserted into the rubber when hot. V2A stainless steel screws for fixing the socket.
Certification and compliance with standards
